won't switch on until disc/tape inserted.registers disc/tape but won't perform any function from remote or panel. red key symbol flashes on panel when any button is pressed, won't switch off either...

I have tried to play a DVD recorded by a friend on a DVD-R disc - it won't play. I have changed the Region code to 0. Any other suggestions?? This disc plays on my friend's player so its not...

Tested on:
-lg dvd v782w
-lite-on dvdrw sohw-832s
-sony ps2 - slimline
the entire volume suffers from strange artifacts (compression?) around any or all line work on screen. Every episode suffers and i believe the mahoromatic trailer is affected also.
i haven't actually seen this...

Ok well.
i tried it in my ps2 and and lg v782w dvd&vhs player and in the lg player it had problems loading even the starting menu, the episodes themselves didn't load.
as for the ps2 it couldn't read the disc...
