Perhaps i've missed something here. What are you going to do? modify the rega or are you going to buy something else?
as for mats, i've experemented with mats that are slightly (slightly!) hollow, in a way the record is supported...

i am looking at buying either:
- pro-ject xpression ii
- pro-ject rpm5
- rega p3 24
what budget cartridges would you guys recommend?
when i say budget i mean < £100. (therefore elys 2 for rega is out)

the choices are:
rega p3 24 with elys 2 £500
pro-ject xpression iii with 2m red - £280
pro-ject rpm5 with 2m red - £395
i prefer a brighter sound.
i listen to:
- classical
- jazz
- mid 70's to mid 80's soul/funk
- hip-hop

So i finally got my tt level from ebay last night. I got the plinth nice & level, then just for fun i checked the platter for level-ness(?) anyway, the platter in not level with the plinth - it seems...
