flashing light.

Which ever cycle i choose it will start off with the light flashing(is this normal)and then starts off by draining the water then the water comes in then the next cycle the machine hums where as before at this stage the pump and everything else starts to go for it.Pump jammed or knacked????.Can i get into the pump to see if it is jammed or not.Any help please!!!
