Piston/spring Jamming

The following has only just begun to happen -The water based paint I am using is always strained and thinned to correct viscosity, however after spraying for less than a minute, the Gun's piston and spring jam. The spray gun hasn't done very much work and is always stripped , cleaned and oiled. I have not had any problems before this. I have noticed some paint residue in and around the spring. Thank you.
